At 6s and 7s Project

I have so much fun in my sessions with toddlers, young children and their families but I’ve been doing some thinking and I’d really like to do some more focused work with 11-13 year olds.

I’m especially interested in this age group because I feel that it’s an important stage to capture and it’s often overlooked.  Those between moments where they start to shake off the early days of childhood and start to grow towards the adults they will become. I know it’s often a time of reluctance and hesitation but I’d particularly like to work with this.

I’m looking for a range of personalities and appearances, both boys and girls, who are in years 6 or 7.  I’m not looking for models or those with professional experience, just normal, wonderful children.

I’m going to run this project differently from my normal sessions.  I’d like a lot of input from the children and their families that I choose in helping plan the sessions, particular likes and dislikes from all sides.  The sessions will also be more fluid and collaborative.  I’m also open to documenting a family activity if that’s your thing.

In exchange, I will obviously not be charging a fee for the session and will provide 2 mounted A4 Fine Art prints and their accompanying digital images for those prints as thanks for your participation.   You will be shown the final gallery of approximately 20-30 images to choose those two prints. If you wish to purchase further prints, my full price list will be available on request but this will be completely your choice. Promise.

So I’d like to work with:

  • 4 and perhaps up to 6 young people from Year 6-7,
  • both boys and girls,
  • a range of personalities and looks.

Sessions will be held on Sunday 18th March, Saturday 25th March and the weekend of 1st & 2nd April.

What I need from you is:

  • to be based in or willing to travel to the Bournemouth area,
  • collaborative input and discussion for session planning (perhaps 45 mins chat at home or getting a coffee somewhere),
  • commitment to the given session time (1-2 hrs),
  • a viewing session to choose your images and talk about your reactions (45 mins or so),
  • a signed model release so I can share this work in the future.

If this is you, please leave me your details below and I’ll be in touch within a couple of days to let you know next steps.
Please feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested in taking part.
